Since then it has been all KTMs. 690 to 500 to 1290 SAR to 790r. All have been great and even the 1290 SAR was better off road than the KLR. The 790 is still a heavy bike but carries the weight low and has good suspension so feels way way lighter than it is off road. And the Versys does 100kmph at just under 5K and 120kmph at just under 6K RPM. There are ancillary advantages too. The 390 engine is notoriously lacking in low-end torque, which isn’t much of a problem riding on the highways, but if you are intending to ride in the mountain/twisties, the that lack really comes across.
